The twentieth Phantom teaches his son Kit in the skills and the lore of his future career as the Phantom. Eventually the boy is sent to his mother's family for schooling in America, with Guran as companion. The two friends don't know what to make of the industrialized world. Kit shocks his aunt and uncle by arriving in a loincloth, having swapped clothes with Guran, who's been feeling self-conscious.
