# The Rider #1 The issue contains at least two stories. "Trouble at Bar H!" depicts a confrontation at Jeff Delaney's Bar H ranch, where the rancher stands against Pete Morgan and other small cattle owners who demand he take action against Eastern farmers and "nesters" encroaching on cattle country; Delaney refuses to use violence, insisting the land disputes be resolved through legal means and coexistence. A second story features the Rider encountering a lonely old hermit and a talking horse named Matilda, with the hermit later revealing he was once involved with the Rider's past before the Rider moves on to help others in distress.
