# The Rider #3 This issue contains two Western stories. "Boot Tracks and Bullets" follows Larry Ford, a rancher who discovers mysterious boot prints in the mud outside his ranch—evidence connected to a murder. Ford encounters a small, wiry outlaw named Nick Jarburn and his confederates, leading to a gunfight in which Ford kills one of the assailants. The second story features The Rider attempting to warn a wagon train of travelers crossing dangerous territory; he encounters a suspicious old man whose shack the survey line passes through, and the old man reveals he was tasked with adjusting a misdirected state survey line straddling New Mexico and Arizona, ultimately confessing his mistake to The Rider.
