“Things Fall Apart”

In "Things Fall Apart," Peter David and Mark Beachum deliver a tense, character-driven tale where Spider-Man’s life unravels in small, persistent ways—until Dr. Strange uncovers a cursed hex tied to a past mission with the Black Cat. The spell’s removal lifts the curse from Spider-Man but also strips the Black Cat of her powers at the worst possible moment, just as she’s deep in a heist. Rich Buckler’s cover captures the moment’s urgency, while the story’s grounded tension and emotional stakes shine through David’s sharp writing and Beachum’s expressive art.

Little things continue to go wrong in Spider-Man’s life and he begins to suspect sinister forces are at work. He visits Dr. Strange who identifies a bad luck hex on the wall crawler which he obtained while working with the Black Cat. Dr. Strange removes the curse from Spider-Man but it also negates the Black Cat's powers. Unfortunately, she is in the middle of breaking into the Foreigner's pad and battling one of his goons when this takes place.
