The Spectacular Spider-Man #60
In "Beetlemania!", Spider-Man faces off against the newly armored Beetle, whose high-tech suit gives him an unexpected edge—complicated further by the Gibbon’s well-intentioned but chaotic interference. With the rematch looming, it’s not the web-slinger who lands the final blow, but the Gibbon, who unexpectedly steals the spotlight. Written by Roger Stern and illustrated by Ed Hannigan with inks by Jim Mooney, this 1981 issue features a dynamic, character-driven clash brought to life by George Roussos’s colors and Diana Albers’s lettering, all under Frank Miller’s striking cover art.

The Beetle's new battlesuit gives him an advantage over Spider-Man when they fight, as does the well-meaning interference of the Gibbon. Later, Beetle challenges Spider-Man to a rematch, but it's the Gibbon who eventually delivers the knockout punch and gets all the credit for defeating the villain.
