“Ferae Naturae (Wild Beasts)”

In "Ferae Naturae (Wild Beasts)," Spider-Man's growing romance with Black Cat takes a dangerous turn when Felicia steals a mysterious canister from Doctor Octopus—only for the villain to crash into their moment, kidnapping her. With the Black Cat in peril and the Kingpin unwilling to help, Spidey is forced into a deadly game between Doc Ock and the Owl, both seeking control of a neutron bomb. Written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by Al Milgrom, with inks by Jim Mooney and colors by Bob Sharen, this 1983 issue sees Spider-Man pushed to his limits as he confronts Ock's brutality—and finally takes drastic action to protect the woman he cares about. The cover, also by Al Milgrom, captures the tension of the moment.
