The Spectre #21
In "Spear of Destiny, Part 3: Troubled Waters," the Spectre is drawn into a storm of divine vengeance as he tracks the Naiad—a vengeful elemental whose human form was destroyed by an oil company—across Tokyo. As the city burns and the Spectre confronts the Naiad’s fury, he plunges into her soul and encounters the ancient presence of Gaea. Meanwhile, with the U.S. President blaming the Spectre for the chaos, Superman is called in to retrieve the Spear of Destiny and stop him before the situation spirals further. Written by John Ostrander and illustrated by Tom Mandrake, with colors by Carla Feeny and Digital Chameleon, and a striking cover by Phil Winslade, this 1994 issue deepens the mystery of the Spear while exploring the cost of divine justice.
