# The Spirit #5 The issue contains at least two stories. "Damsels in Distress" features the Spirit encountering two mischievous children outside a nightclub, where he shares a story about a young Irish rookie cop from four years prior to demonstrate that police officers are human beings worthy of respect. A second story involves a woman and man on a beach discovering that the sand is covered with valuable pearls, leading them to search for the source—a gold mine—while they struggle with hunger and survival on the island.
