The Superman Family #182
In "Death on Ice," Paul Kupperberg and Marshall Rogers deliver a haunting holiday tale as Clark Kent shares a forgotten legend from Krypton’s past with Jon Ross. The story unfolds with the ancient tale of Jo-Mon, a peace-seeking stranger whose quiet defiance of tyranny by Al-Nei leaves a lasting mark on Krypton’s history. Curt Swan’s cover, inked by Neal Adams, captures the tale’s solemn, icy grandeur.

At Christmas time, Clark tells Jon Ross the story of how on ancient Krypton, when Bel-Der fought to free his fellow men from the tyranny of Al-Nei, a miracle-working stranger named Jo-Mon appeared. Though Jo-Mon spoke only of peace, Al-Nei killed the prophet, but not before he had convinced many men to follow his ways and brought lasting peace to Krypton.
