“Roads and Vehicles, Number 2: How Roads Began”

In "Roads and Vehicles, Number 2: How Roads Began," Curly Joe finds himself mistaken for the legendary baseball star Homer McSlugger when a pair of crooks kidnap him, hypnotize him, and send him to play in a crucial game—unaware that his subconscious believes he’s the real McSlugger. Moe and Larry, tied up and desperate, must unravel the mix-up before the scheme unravels the game, all while Curly Joe’s accidental brilliance keeps the crowd cheering. The story unfolds with classic slapstick flair, drawn by Joe Messerli and inked by Tony DiPaola, and features a cover by Tony DiPaola.

Curly Joe is a dead ringer for Homer McSlugger, the baseball champ. So crooks kidnap Curly Joe, have him hypnotized, and send him in to ruin the game while they win big. But Curly Joe excels because his subconscious thinks he's terrific! Moe and Larry are tied up but escape, but can't convince Curly Joe he's not McSlugger - until the crooks are caught and Curly is beaned by a ball.
