Thor #1 (Panini Brasil, 2017) is the Brazilian Portuguese gateway to one of Marvel's most culturally resonant story arcs of the 2010s: the Jason Aaron–Russell Dauterman run in which Jane Foster — a supporting character dating back to 1962 — picks up Mjolnir and becomes the new Goddess of Thunder. By publishing this as the debut issue of a dedicated ongoing series, Panini Brasil formally introduced a generation of Brazilian readers to the moment Thor (2014) #1 was built around: the first in-costume appearance of Jane Foster as Thor, a gender-transformative narrative shift that sparked widespread discussion about representation and identity in superhero comics. The source material reprinted here originated in the United States in October 2014, written by Jason Aaron with pencils by Russell Dauterman and colors by Matthew Wilson, published by Marvel Comics as part of the All-New Marvel NOW! initiative following the events of the Original Sin crossover, in which Nick Fury's whispered secret rendered the Odinson unworthy of Mjolnir. Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso pitched Aaron on launching the Jane Foster concept in its own standalone series once it became clear the story warranted more than a single arc. Panini Brasil, Marvel's long-established Brazilian licensee for Portuguese-language editions, launched its own numbered series reprinting those issues beginning in February 2017, producing standard-format Brazilian comics (approximately 17 × 26 cm, ~52–60 pages) on a monthly schedule that ran at least into early 2018.
