Thundercats #14

The cover of ThunderCats #14 delivers a striking image: Lion-O is locked behind steel bars, his name literally posted on his cage, while his fellow ThunderCats — including Cheetara, Tygra, and the Thunderkittens — are similarly imprisoned in the cages behind him. Looming over the scene in a glowing inset portrait is a smug, heavyset villain whose cover caption asks, "Has this madman's twisted dream come true?" Penciled by Ernie Colón and inked by Al Williamson, this 1987 Star Comics/Marvel issue — "Safari Jo" — makes a compelling visual argument that Third Earth's greatest heroes are in very real trouble.
