Thunderstrike #23

The tagline says it all — "Things Just Got Ugly!" — and Ron Frenz and Al Milgrom's cover delivers on that promise, showing a battered, bloodied Thunderstrike charging forward with his enchanted mace and a massive axe-like weapon, chain swinging, while the faces of Captain America and several other figures loom anxiously in the background. It's a tense, kinetic image that makes "Dying Time!" feel every bit as dire as the title suggests. Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz's 1995 run on this series has been consistently compelling, and issue #23 looks like it's pushing the Ultimate Avenger to his absolute limit.
