Tibill le Lilling #2

The second volume of Tibill le Lilling, subtitled Mata a ri, sends its small, colorful adventurers into the open sea in spectacular fashion — the cover shows tiny figures clinging to and scrambling around an enormous, eerily serene stone face half-submerged in turquoise waves, with a boat perched improbably atop its head. By Ange and Cagniat, this 2012 Soleil release promises the kind of grand, whimsical scale that makes Franco-Belgian adventure comics so distinctive. If this cover is any indication, the series has a real gift for making its characters feel thrillingly small against a very strange, very large world.
