Tom Mix Western #59

Tom Mix confronts the "Mad Killer of the Hills" after the villain attempts to steal a valuable diamond. Following a brutal fight in which Mix is knocked unconscious, he pursues the madman across rough terrain to a river, where he discovers the killer has thrown his horse and must reach town for a doctor. Mix trails the injured criminal and finds him at a ranch, where he learns the man plans to steal the diamond from a friend arriving the next day. Mix recovers the gem from the villain's safe while Griggs, the madman, remains bedridden from his injuries.
