Dale's fiancé John is called back into the service during the Korean War. She becomes a nurse. John goes missing in action (he's a prisoner of the North Koreans) and Dale finds herself attracted to surgeon Richard. John escapes and is reunited with Dale. Richard has to perform a delicate operation on John, and debates whether to make a "mistake" so Dale will be free to marry him, but his medical ethics prevent him from doing so.
