Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #158

Oct 2010 · Wizard Entertainment · 4.99 USD; 5.99 CAD

In this playful crossover special from Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #158, Imperial troopers trade desert patrols for snowy slopes, trekking from Tatooine to Hoth with a mission to track rebels—only to discover Echo Base repurposed as a ski lodge. After soaking in a bacta hot tub and hearing Dash Render’s enthusiastic offer to teach them radical skiing, they face a chilling mystery: the missing guests aren’t being eaten by a wampa, but by the very tauntauns they’re meant to ride. Written by Justin Aclin, Jon Gutierrez, Rob Bricken, and T. J. Dietsch, and illustrated by Dan Reilly (pencils, inks, and colors), this issue blends sci-fi parody with winter adventure.

The troopers go to Tatooine, then Hoth. They are supposed to look for rebels. They are cold. They find out that Echo Base has been turned into a ski lodge. They soak in a bacta hot tub. Dash Render offers to teach them to be radical skiers. There are no other guests because a wampa's been eating them all, and the troopers go to kill it. It captures them and tells them he's not eating the skiers; the tauntauns are.
