Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #53

Jan 2002 · Wizard Entertainment · 4.99 USD

In this quirky 2002 issue of Toyfare: The Toy Magazine, Thor, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Professor X trade superheroics for a wild day of live-action role-play in the woods—only to stumble into a backwoods showdown with the Dukes, moonshine, and a surprisingly explosive horseshoe. When Strange vanishes in his astral form and the team is captured, Spider-Man makes a desperate pact with Mephisto, dragging everyone into a surreal game of cosmic role-play. The cover by Tom Root captures the absurd tone perfectly, blending superhero chaos with small-town madness.

Thor, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Professor X head to the woods for some live-action role-play. Elsewhere, the Dukes are blowing up birds and making moonshine. Bo hits himself in the head with a horseshoe, so they leave, allowing the role players to find the booze. Strange leaves in his astral form, and is blown up. Thor is caught, Spider-Man runs, and Professor X gets up and runs too. He's still caught. Spider-Man makes a deal with Mephisto. He takes them all to hell. The Dukes are stuck in school, and Strange and Spider-Man have to play role playing games with Mephisto.
