Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #61

Jul 2002 · Wizard Entertainment · 4.99 USD

In this delightfully absurd issue of Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #61, Spider-Man crashes a Geonosis fight scene with a surprisingly detailed critique of the Star Wars prequels—ranging from overused death scenes to questionable names like Jango Fett—while Anakin sits nearby with Tusken Raiders and Palpatine summons an army of Spider-Man clones. Elsewhere, Jar Jar Binks pens a letter to George Lucas, and even C-3PO delivers jokes as the orcs join the fray, all in a surreal mashup that’s equal parts satire and fan-service. Written by Pat McCallum, Tom Root, Zach Oat, Justin Aclin, Rob Bricken, Adam Patyk, and Jon Gutierrez, this 2002 issue is a chaotic, tongue-in-cheek celebration of geek culture.

Spider-Man is in the stands during the fight of Geonosis. He jumps into the ring and begins to explain the problems with the movie. Some of his complaints are too many similar death scenes, Padmé falling and not dying, and Jango being a stupid name. Anakin is seated next to Tuskan Raiders. Palpatine calls his army of Spider-Man clones. Hulk uses Taun We to clean his ears. Jango Fett is beheaded, and C-3PO makes dumb jokes. The orcs join the frey. Elsewhere, Jar Jar pens a letter to George Lucas.
