Toyfare: The Toy Magazine #74
In this delightfully absurd 2003 issue of Toyfare: The Toy Magazine, Cobra Commander finds himself the reluctant host of a surreal midnight interlude—woken by Destro and the Baroness’ late-night tennis match, he stumbles through a day of chaotic distractions. From pilfering Bludd’s sandwich to flipping off Snake Eyes and accidentally summoning stormy weather with the weather dominator, his attempts at authority are undercut by Scrabble losses, hat-hopping, and a surprisingly effective prank by Tomax and Xamot, who draw on his mask while he naps on the couch after watching Trading Spaces. A rare, comedic peek behind the mask, written by Pat McCallum, Tom Root, Zach Oat, Justin Aclin, Adam Patyk, and Jon Gutierrez, this issue offers a lighthearted, offbeat look at the villain’s more mundane moments.
