“The Murky Depths”

In "The Murky Depths," the Trouble Shooters dive into the unknown as they follow a homing signal to the bottom of Cochito Lake, pursued by General Maddox and his forces. With Witlock struggling to recall his past after his memory banks were stolen, the team faces off against Sea Konk, a scorpion-rob, and a sudden aerial assault—only to uncover a clue that may finally lead them to the truth. Written by Ryder Windham and illustrated with gritty precision by Kilian Plunkett, with colors by Chris Chuckry and letters by Willie Schubert, this 2000 issue delivers a tense underwater mystery with a cover by Plunkett that captures the murky tension perfectly.

General Maddox, who "created" Witlock, wants him back. Witlock is having trouble thinking because his memory banks were stolen. The Trouble Shooters escape and track a homing device at the bottom of Cochito Lake. Witlock fights off Sea Konk, a scorpion-rob, and finds only the homing device. The Air Force swoops in. The gang steals their plane and keeps looking - while "dead" Dr. Chambers finally gets the memory bank.
