Emery is reunited with his former associates Charlie and Johnny who threaten to expose his earlier crimes unless he puts them up in his hotel. As their presence ruins the hotel's reputation Emery hires Lukavic to scare them off but Lukavic takes their side and likewise blackmails Emery. While out deep sea fishing Emery's boat sinks and the criminals are all killed. Emery admits his crimes against Van Horne but Van Horne doesn't press charges and Emery rebuilds his life.
