Ronnie, her father, and her fiancé Tim work in a gasoline processing plant. Ronnie’s father is fired when one of his men is caught smoking. When her distraught father is injured after walking in front of a car, Ronnie blames safety inspector Tim for both things. Ronnie takes a job managing the lunch counter at Jerry’s bowling alley. Tim warns her against Jerry and defends her from three unruly customers, but gives up when Ronnie tells him to mind his own business. However, she learns Jerry doesn’t care for her.
