Helen, a woman troubled by thoughts of another man on the eve of her wedding to Gordon, marries him despite her doubts, only to have Gordon discover her infidelity when he overhears her confessing she thinks of the other man. After Gordon leaves her, Helen encounters Tom, a soldier, who makes fun of her until realizing how much she cares for him; they fall in love, but Tom must leave for military duty. The story concludes with Helen and Tom parting ways, with Tom promising to return and Helen agreeing to wait for him, having found true love at last.
