One story follows a salesman named Sam whose manager warns him that people aren't responding well to his sales pitch, leading Sam to encounter an old man called the Buzzard who offers him a sinister deal. Another story titled "That Wreck, the Hesperus!" depicts a ship captain and sailor dealing with a supernatural wreck at sea. A third story called "Imagination!" tells of a lonely only child whose vivid imagination manifests a mummy creature that comes to life in his room, though his parents dismiss it as a figment.
In "Alone," a solitary man, hardened by life and determined to be left in peace, grows furious when his neighbors knock on his door during a violent storm. Unaware they’re trying to warn him of an approaching flood, he lashes out—only to find himself isolated as the waters rise, leaving him to face the consequences of his own anger.
In 1958, a plumber answers a phone call from a man claiming his basement water tank is making a strange noise—only the call is coming from a house long since destroyed in a 1915 explosion.
