Uncanny Tales #34
In "Look to the Sky!", John Foster stumbles upon a chilling mystery in his secluded woods when strange cocoons begin to ripen on a tree—each one shedding an ooze that perfectly mimics its surroundings. As the phenomenon escalates, Foster races to destroy the cocoons before they replicate humans, only to send a few floating into the sky, leaving him to wonder if he’s truly protected the world—or just delayed something far worse. Penciled and inked by John Forte, with a cover by Carl Burgos, this 1955 tale of creeping alien mimicry blends quiet dread with a haunting final question.

On his woodland property John Foster watches as strange cocoons ripen on a tree, and one drops to a branch. The ooze being mimics perfectly the tree he landed on. Soon Foster believes it is only a matter of time before they duplicate humans, so he manages to burn most of them, leaving a few to float off into space. He reckons he's saved the world, but has he?
