Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters #6

Issue six of eight in this 2008 DC miniseries, written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray with interior art by Renato Arlem, keeps the momentum building with a cover by Dave Johnson that's hard to look away from. A massive, glowing golden face dominates the image, its expression locked in a fierce grimace, while a smaller luminous figure — The Ray — blazes defiantly at its center, radiating beams of light in every direction. Titled "A Ray of Hope," this striking composition makes a strong visual case for why the Freedom Fighters remain one of DC's most compelling team books of the era.
