L'émissaire d'un roi ne tient pas compte des avertissements de Conan concernant la trahison de Khozgari, et seuls Conan et Jamal s'échappent vivants. Pendant leur évasion, ils rencontrent Shanya, la fille d'un chef Khozgari, et la prennent en otage.
