Tilly sets up a gas explosion at Tom's apartment to make it look like he is dead. Tom then meets the Devil, who tells Tom there is going to be power struggle in Hell because he has left Hell to live as a mortal. He then instructs Tom to give a message to a man in Hell named Jackie Estacado and see what his reaction is to the message.
