Usagi Yojimbo #150
In "Death of a Tea Master," the 150th issue of Stan Sakai’s acclaimed Usagi Yojimbo series, the arrival of European swordsman Rodriguez at Lord Odo’s court ignites a tense clash of cultures and philosophies. When Rodriguez demands a demonstration of hara-kiri by forcing the tea master Nobu to take his own life, the act deeply unsettles Usagi, who steps forward to challenge Rodriguez in a duel that will test honor, tradition, and the true cost of vengeance. Written, drawn, inked, and lettered by Stan Sakai, with cover art by Sakai, this milestone issue blends quiet tragedy with visceral intensity in a story that lingers long after the final page.

The European swordsman Rodriguez is a guest in the court of Lord Odo, pitting his European swordsmanship against Japanese techniques. As part of his report on Japan, he demands Lord Odo show him an example of hara-kiri by demanding the death of Nobu, the tea master. Lord Odo complies and Nobu begrudgingly gives his life. Disgusted by Rodriguez, Nobu's friend Usagi offers to fight Rodriguez to the death and concludes the battle by disembowelling Rodriguez so he can experience the effect of hara-kiri.
