As the tide approaches, her frustration turns to fear when Fred vanishes beneath the sand, leaving her to wonder if his inaction will cost her everything. A quiet moment on the shore becomes a pivotal test of love and ambition, drawn with delicate precision by Félix Mas.

Fay wished Fred would be more attentive to her. While on holiday, Fay learns that a lady who is staying at her boarding house has a cheap flat to let back in Mixton. Then she receives a telegram saying she can get a job as the managing director's new secretary if she returns immediately. Fay knows that Fred will have to decide: a promotion for Fay or a married flat for both of them. At the most fateful decision of their lives, Fred falls asleep on the beach. Angry, Fay covers him with sand, but later can't find him and worries that he will drown when the tide comes in.
