“A Matter of Moments”

"A Matter of Moments" in Valentine #29 (August 1964) presents a quiet yet poignant drama centered on Angela and Alan, whose fragile romance unfolds against the backdrop of her father’s research firm. With art by Julian Morote, the story captures the delicate tension between desire and self-awareness, as Angela struggles to hold onto love while fearing her own fleeting nature. The emotional core lies in a single, unresolved moment—one where longing meets silence, and the weight of a lifetime of hesitation rests in a single, unspoken plea.

When Angela is introduced to the new research director at her father's firm, her interest is piqued when he doesn't seem to fall for her charm. Eventually, they fall in love but she warns him that she has a history of not loving anyone too long or too seriously. When Alan is too busy working to take her to a dance, she goes with Tony instead. Alan confronts her and walks out. She apologizes for her weakness and asks Alan to plead with her to forget anything but loving him forever. But his weakness is never being able to beg for anything.
