“I Don't Want Our Loving to Die”

In "I Don't Want Our Loving to Die," José García Pizarro’s heartfelt artwork brings to life a tender, poignant story of young love tested by sacrifice and duty. Linda, who’s loved Tom since childhood, faces a choice between staying with the man she adores or pursuing her future at college—guided by a teacher who believes true love means letting go. Pizarro’s expressive visuals capture the quiet ache of a moment that changes everything, all in a 7d comic from 1968.

Linda had loved Tom since she was twelve years old and he had saved her from a bully. As she blossomed into a beautiful, intelligent young woman, he had fallen in love with her too. Linda has an opportunity to go to college, but she wants to stay and marry Tom. Linda's teacher persuades Tom that if he truly loves Linda, he will put her first and convince her to go to college. Realizing that Miss Pride was right, Tom lies and tells Linda that he has been seeing Sue Peters so she would leave him and go to college.
