Marnie had broken up with Jack because things were getting too serious, but Jack waits outside her office to plead for her to come back to him. Later, Marnie waits for Mike to call for their date. When he doesn't, she goes to the disco to find him with another girl. The next evening, she decides to slip out the back way to avoid Jack. He would be willing to go out with her, but she now knows she has hurt him enough already.
