In "null," Louis Crandell, a lab assistant to Professor Barringer, becomes invisible after a lab accident—his only visible trace a floating steel prosthetic hand. Struggling with a fractured mind, he descends into criminality, using his invisibility to commit crimes across England before fleeing to New York, where he threatens the city with a bomb.
