“Venom: Dark Origin Chapter 1”

"Venom: Dark Origin Chapter 1" kicks off a pivotal tale in the life of young Eddie Brock, a high school student desperate to fit in and earn respect—though his methods are more about image than integrity. Written by Zeb Wells and illustrated by Angel Medina, with inks by Scott Hanna and colors by Avalon and Matt Milla, the story captures Eddie’s early obsession with truth-telling and his knack for spinning the facts, all before his fateful encounter with Spider-Man. The cover by Angel Medina and Scott Hanna sets the tone for a moment that will shape his future—when a chance meeting with a college girl turns into a moment he claims as his own.

Young Eddie Brock tries very hard to be a popular kid but begins manipulating situations to make himself look more heroic than he actually is. Eddie also has a penchant for sniffing out liars and becomes impressed with the profession of journalism. As Eddie gets older, he pads his résumé to get into ESU's journalism program. While taking a walk with a pretty college girl, they are jumped by thugs. Spider-Man swings in to save the day but, when his gal pal regains consciousness, Eddie takes the credit for bringing down the bad guys.
