The Boomer Young story follows a candidate's campaign for sheriff, which is disrupted when an unwelcome character named Bench interferes, leading to confrontations and a scheme involving a boat. Rocket Rex encounters the scientist Doc Buzzard conducting experiments with a "Mota" machine that splits atoms, and is recruited to pilot an interplanetary spaceship, eventually agreeing to undertake a mission to the moon.
