As the old elephant Maula travels to the legendary elephants' graveyard to die, he's followed by two hunters hoping to steal a fortune in ivory. Maula is met by the Mystery Woman of the Jungle, Fantomah, who guides him through the "Arch of Death" as the hunters' bloodhounds become terrified, racing off before inexplicably dying. Undeterred, the hunters reach the ivory-filled valley, where Fantomah reveals her skull-faced form and seals off their escape route. Consumed by greed, the hunters turn on each other before sinking into quicksand, ensuring the graveyard remains a secret.
