“Predators”

In "Predators," Mari returns to Zambesi and awakens in the peaceful shrine of St. Amica, tended by Brother Tabo and his gentle lion companion Zaki. As she reconnects with the spirit of the land, Mari discovers her powers no longer rely on her totem—until the Justice League arrives, only to be ambushed by deadly Intergang traps in a hidden bunker. Written by G. Willow Wilson and illustrated by Cafu, with colors by Santiago Arcas and letters by Rob Clark Jr., the cover by Josh Middleton captures the quiet tension of this pivotal moment.

After passing out beneath the lion, Mari wakes up in the shrine of St. Amica, looked after by the kindly Brother Tabo and his lion friend Zaki, the same lion that stood over Mari earlier. All wandering animals here live in harmony together. After talking with Brother Tabo, Mari finds she doesn't need her totem to access her powers. The Justice League arrives in Zambesi and finds an Intergang storage bunker. Booby traps are set off and Superman and Black Canary are felled by poisonous shurikens.
