“No Raise”

In "No Raise," Scrooge McDuck sets his sights on claiming the Crystal Orb Derby title and becoming Duckburg's reigning king for the year, betting big on Fireball—the reigning champion horse—only to discover the competition might be more mechanical than he expected. With the Beagle Boys eyeing a heist at the Money Bin during the Derby’s chaos, Scrooge’s quest for victory takes an unexpectedly tangled turn. Written, drawn, and inked by Carl Barks, this 1966 classic features a cover by Barks, capturing the high-stakes energy of a race where the odds are far from what they seem.

Scrooge, determined to win the Crystal Orb Derby and become "king" of Duckburg for the coming year, buys Fireball, the horse that has won the two previous years, not knowing that Fireball is actually an incredibly complex robot designed to win Derbies, and the other horses in the race are robots, too. Meanwhile, the Beagle Boys plan to loot Scrooge's Money Bin while everyone is at the Derby.
