This anthology issue contains two war stories. "All's Fair in Love and War" depicts a soldier's romantic furlough and eventual deployment, emphasizing the bittersweet nature of wartime romance. In the concluding unnamed story, a soldier named Smiley participates in a desperate assault on enemy positions, navigating through mine fields and machine gun fire before being captured along with the few survivors who breach the enemy lines.
