Weird Fantasy #2
In "Cosmic Ray Bomb Explosion!", timid Luther finds himself tangled in a magical mishap after stumbling upon a book of black magic in the library. With a crush on the oblivious Miss Dennis, he concocts a love potion—only to accidentally mix it with her tea, setting off a chain of unintended consequences. Just as he realizes his mistake, a clawed arm reaches for his throat, hinting at something far more dangerous than a failed romance. Written by Harry Harrison and illustrated with sharp, dynamic flair by Wally Wood, with lettering by Jim Wroten, this 1993 tale blends awkward charm with escalating dread. The cover, a striking piece by Al Feldstein, captures the moment of peril with eerie precision.

Timid Luther is smitten with the lovely Miss Dennis, but she doesn't even know he exists. While in the library, he chances upon a book of black magic. It contains a recipe for a love potion, the cure for Luther's heartache! After experimenting on a cat, Luther slips the potion into Miss Dennis' tea. It doesn't seem to work, and a despondent Luther re-reads the recipe. Oops, it turns out the potion shouldn't be mixed with tea; it could cause horrific results. As Luther plans another attempt with the potion, a hairy, clawed arm reaches for his throat.
