Elza Lay ultimately kills one deputy in a shootout but is captured and sentenced to life in prison, while other gang members like Bill Carver and George Musgrove are killed in subsequent encounters with law enforcement. The story concludes with the arrest and conviction of Elza Lay, marking the effective end of the Ketchum Gang's reign as outlaws.
