"The Goatherd's Clue" is a Slim Carson adventure by Dick Kraus in which Carson investigates outlaws holding a goatherd prisoner near the river and discovers they are planning something dangerous, leading him to pursue them into the hills where he uncovers their criminal scheme. "Tom Mix and the Train of Doom" depicts Tom Mix escorting a gold shipment from the Hartwell Mine to the railroad station while guarding against bandits who attempt to hijack the wagon.
