Witchblade #8

Aug 1996 · Image · 2.50 USD; 3.40 CAD

Witchblade #8 (1996) delivers a pivotal moment in the series' early arc, with Michael Turner’s striking art and David Wohl, Christina Z., and Turner’s writing driving the tension as Sara’s spirit is tested. As Irons prepares to seize the Witchblade with Nottingham’s aid, Ian’s rebellion leads to a brutal confrontation, culminating in a shocking transfer of power—only for Sara to reclaim the weapon when Jake is attacked. The cover by Michael Turner and D-Tron captures the issue’s intensity, a 2.50 USD comic in 1996 that remains a standout in the series’ run.

With Sara's spirit broken, Irons prepares to take the Witchblade from her with the help of Nottingham. Ian rebels and attacks his boss but Irons cuts him down. Irons completes the transfer and wields the Witchblade but, when Jake arrives and is brutalized by the villain, Sara finds the strength within herself to fight back and regain the Witchblade. Irons begs her to kill him but Sara refuses, so he takes matters into his own hands by leaping to his apparent death.
