When the telepath Yarko senses a terrible plague spreading across the globe, his psychic powers lead him to a forbidding castle where he discovers that Pestilence itself is enslaved to Hans Von Lundberg, a mad archaeologist who's harnessed the Curse of Hecate for his twisted purposes. Yarko must confront Von Lundberg's formidable defenses and strike a desperate bargain with Death itself to stop the madman's plans before his diseased ambitions consume the world.

When the El Snoro mint is robbed, the local authority assigns Shorty Shortcake to track down the culprit—a former mayor named Señor Carlos—though Carlos has his own schemes to keep him out of trouble. As Shorty closes in with help from a young woman named Suzy and Mr. Mizzen, the ex-mayor prepares a dangerous trap to silence them both.

Dr. Lleh, a sinister villain, has captured a group of prisoners and brought them to his underground temple of horrors, where he plans to use them for brutal experiments. When torture threatens to destroy one of the captives, an escape attempt sets off a catastrophic chain of events that turns the tables on Dr. Lleh and his domain. This wild adventure showcases the clash between cruelty and quick thinking in a race against time through flame-lit caverns.
