World of Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest #3
In "What If Betty & Veronica Were Guys?!", Archie's world flips on its head as the Pussycats face a mystery that’s equal parts music, friendship, and misdirection. When Valerie suddenly vanishes before a big show, leaving behind only a vague excuse about a sick grandmother, Josie, Melody, and Alexandra are left wondering if their friend’s absence hides a deeper, more dramatic truth—especially when they discover the club they’re playing is tied to a past romantic misstep. Written by Frank Doyle and brought to life with vibrant energy by Stan Goldberg, Jon D'Agostino, Barry Grossman, and Bill Yoshida, this Jumbo Comics Digest tale blends humor and heart with a twist that reimagines the band’s dynamics. The cover by Dan Parent captures the playful tension perfectly.

Valerie leaves town before an important gig, claiming that she needs to visit a sick grandmother. Josie, Melody and Alexandra (who replaces Valerie in the band while she's away) don't buy the old "sick grandmother" cliché, and assume that Valerie is making some kind of tragic sacrifice to help the Pussycats. And they think they know what it is when they realize that the club they're playing at is owned by someone who unsuccessfully hit on Val.
