An anthology of horror tales featuring multiple stories. One story involves a doctor who discovers zombie-like victims in his basement—figures he had stolen hearts from to power his fiendish clocks. Another tale follows a man who awakens in a coffin to find himself being buried alive, experiencing a horrifying encounter with an earthworm in the darkness. A third story depicts a woman attending an evening party where a mysterious puppeteer named Monsieur Gutro and his living puppet Jojo create supernatural chaos, forcing her to confront deadly peril.

"Papa" Pierre Gutro, a struggling puppet-master down on his luck, carves a puppet named Jojo from wood taken off an old execution tree—and his creation becomes an unexpected sensation on stage. But as Jojo's popularity grows, Pierre begins to suspect the puppet has taken on a terrible life of its own, growing increasingly demanding and sinister. Now bound to his own creation, Pierre discovers that Jojo's ambitions extend far beyond the theatre into the dark streets of the town.

The Conqueror Worm

Dr. Rypton, a fanatic experimenter in life and death, exhumes the freshly buried Robert Dinsmore to fuel his mad resurrection experiments—but his grave-robbing unleashes something far worse than he imagined. Haunted by visions and tormented by an inexplicable plague of crawling worms that seem to possess a terrible purpose, the doctor descends into a nightmare where the very forces of the tomb close in on him in ways science cannot explain. "The Conqueror Worm," illustrated across ten pages of pure horror, explores the price of violating death itself.
