X-Men Vol. 3 launched in July 2010 under writer Victor Gischler and penciller Paco Medina, announced at the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) in April 2010, with the express editorial mandate to firmly integrate the X-Men into the wider Marvel Universe through ongoing team-ups and crossovers. Issues #12–15.1 brought in Christopher Yost — coming off X-Force — as a guest writer to helm the 'First to Last' story, with Medina continuing on present-day sequences and Dalibor Talajić handling the historical flashback segments. The arc was collected in a hardcover volume titled X-Men: First to Last (ISBN: 9780785152873), published by Marvel in 2011.
