X-Men Pocket Book #12
In "Beware of the Blob!", the X-Men are called to a traveling carnival after Professor X detects a new mutant, leading them to confront the immovable, bulletproof Blob—a towering sideshow act with a surprising strength and a mind of his own. Written by Stan Lee and brought to life with dynamic art by Jack Kirby, inks by Paul Reinman, and lettering by Art Simek, this story blends classic superhero action with a touch of circus intrigue. The cover, penciled by Kirby and inked by Sol Brodsky, captures the Blob’s imposing presence with a bold, timeless flair.

Professor X detects a new mutant and sends the X-Men to investigate. They arrive at a carnival and encounter the Blob, a very fat sideshow attraction who can bounce bullets off of his malleable hide as well as anchor himself to the earth and become immovable. The X-Men bring him back to the mansion as a potential member but the Blob spurns their invitation and returns to the carnival. Realizing that the Blob knows their secret, the X-Men lure him back to the mansion where Xavier wipes his memory.
